52 SUPER SERIES calendar 2024

The five regatta 52 SUPER SERIES season starts on Sunday 28th April. 10 TP52s from seven different nations will compete, including new boats for 2023 circuit champions Platoon for Harm Müller Spreer and Alegre for Andy Soriano.

Both runners up for the 2023 season title, the Plattner family’s Phoenix and Ergin Imre’s Provezza will take to the start line once more.

Did you know?

  1. When Sled won the 2021 title they became only the third team to win the overall series title along with Quantum Racing and Azzurra. Quantum won in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2018, and Azzurra were winners in 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
  2. At the end of the 2021 season just three points separated the top three teams.
  3. The TP52 class started in the USA around 2000/2001 for the Transpac Race from Los Angeles to Hawaii – hence TP52. The class came to Europe and the Med in 2005.
  4. Sailors from over 15 nations are represented onboard the 52 SUPER SERIES fleet. Russia remains banned in line with World Sailing’s policy.
  5. It takes an average of 2-3 seconds to hoist a TP52 spinnaker to the top of the 22-metre mast.
  6. TP52s are boats built under a box rule, meaning that each boat must fit within a set of measurement parameters defined by the class rule.
  7. Downwind in a strong breeze TP52’s can sail at well over 20 knots.
